The story of Buffalo Time Warner is the same as that of Adelphia Communications Corp.

The word "Adelphia" is Greek for the word "brothers".  Before filing bankruptcy in 2002 for corruption, Adelphia was the fifth largest cable company in the United States.  Adelphia was originally founded in 1952 within the town of Coudersport, Pennsylvania.  After filing bankruptcy, the Adelphia headquarters moved to Greenwood Village, Colorado.

Shortly after Adelphia’s bankruptcy, the company’s assets were sold $12.7 billion in stock and cash.  Time Warner took over the majority of Adelphia’s 5.2 million subscribers includeing over 300,000 subscribers in Buffalo.

Since Time Warner has taken over cable operations in Buffalo, services have continued to increase.  Time Warner now offers more channels than ever, more cable modem packages, phone service and soon to be cell service for Buffalo.
