Kunis ToGo - Buffalo Sushi King Returns
By hotbuffalo on Wednesday, January 17, 2007
HotBuffalo is officially out of the loop. Kunis ToGo (KunisToGo.com) has been open since November on Lexington Ave just West of Elmwood. I just got back from there so everything is still fresh in my mind.
On a bone chilling wintery day like today, you open the door of KunisToGo to a very warm, brightly lit and comfortable setting. A small tastefully done Japanese waterfall is to your right. To your left is relatively inexpensive sets of sushi dinnerware and sake sets.
Straight ahead was an extremely cute, aproachable and smiling local resident named Ashley covering the register. Kuni could be seen working away in the back reassuring that you’ll get a tasty quality meal even though we had little doubt (Kuni is well known from his Elmwood sushi days). I purposely didn’t phone or fax ahead to give me a chance to get out of the office for a few moments and, as I expected, catch up on my ArtVoice perusing which was available in a stand by the door.
Only a few minutes went by before the wonderful Ashley handed me order and I went on my merry way.
This is how Sushi take-out should be. If I had been in a hurry I would have faxed my order with the print out from the KunisToGo.com website. Inside there is plenty of space in case of lines. There is also some seating in case I arrived too early (I’ve been known to do that). Also the food was very high quality. Although I hate to compare it supermarket food, it is kind of senseless to go to Wegman’s and pay more money to get less food of lower quality. More + Better for less is a no brainer.
