Should I be scared of Garbage Plates?

What is a garbage plate you ask? It is something wonderful and loaded with tons more calories than you need in a day! Although the garbage plate wasn’t created in Buffalo it was born close by in its neighbor to the east, Rochester. The restaurant with the most garbage plate credit is Nick Tahoe’s.
The garbage plate fits well with other Buffalo cuisine and deserves to be in the same ranks as Chicken wings, chicken finger subs and “Hot-Sauce&BlueCheese” as a side.
A garbage plate always consists of at least 3 things. The first is a choice of a main meat such as cheeseburgers, steak, chicken fingers, white hots, red hots or anything else you can think a greasy spoon might have. Then you get to choose 2 sides which more often than not are either french-fries, baked beans, home fries or macaroni salad. Your two sides are placed at the bottom of a styrofoam container, your meat is then placed on top. Then it is covered in ketchup, mustard, onions and a beefy hotdog sauce. True garbage plate eaters will also dowse their plate with hot sauce.
We recently where able to check out University Hots on Elmwood avenue close to J.P. Bullfeathers. We where not disappointed! However we where quite bloated and more than full when we finished.
