Most Buffalo natives know that Anchor Bar was the home of the Original Chicken wing. Anybody that comes into Buffalo to visit and wants good wings go there. However as of late, Anchor Bar is highly overrated. While their wings are very good, most of their waiting staff perform more like robots than the personable people we know they really are.

Duff’s on Sheridan and Elmo’s on Millersport are often overlooked but offer a great wing that isn’t an attempt to be an Anchor Bar carbon copy. Elmo’s is actually known for their Cajun or Honey Mustard (My personal favorite) style of wings.

There are also a ton of other hidden “Wing” gems that deserve attention and have put forth much more effort than Anchor Bar as of late.

Hopefully this is just a stumble for Anchor Bar and the management there hasn’t really lost the ideals of what made them a Buffalo landmark in the first place.
